Chapter 8: Leviathan Gorilla
Lin Li bent down to pick up the water bag, shook it by his ear, and found that there was still more than half a bag of clear water inside
The control of the Leviathan gorilla over that massive web is as agile as an arm, twisting and turning in such a way that it manages to deflect the vast majority of spells.
Lin Li once heard Anduin mention that this is a unique architectural method of the Leviathan gorilla. They weave vines into a giant net, which expands their territory wherever it reaches. For the Leviathan gorilla, this giant net serves both as its nest and its most powerful weapon. With this net, the Leviathan gorilla is capable of accomplishing many feats that even high-level magical beasts cannot achieve.
Two people ran out of the cave, one in front and the other behind, and they saw Cromwell running back like a lost dog.
Lin Li was indeed not mistaken; even from a great distance, the two could hear Ina's cries.
What monster? Speak more clearly! This concerns my own daughter. Romaine McGrady, in a fit of anger, glared at Cromwell, his eyes no longer carrying the previous hint of distant politeness.
The resistance to damage of an eighth-level monster is vastly different from that of the scorpion-tailed variant. For Lin Li, the effects of these spells can probably only serve to provoke the anger of the Leviathan gorilla, causing it to smash the coconuts even harder.
Just now, when I went to fetch water with Ina, a monster suddenly appeared beside us! It, it, it... it took Ina...
Upon hearing that the situation was not as dire as imagined, Romagreni let out a slight sigh of relief
The one who should have captured Ina is the Leviathan Gorilla
"Father, be careful!" Before the voice of the long-legged beauty could finish, Lin Li suddenly heard a sound slicing through the air, followed by a dull thud. Luo Maigelini, who had just been calling out his daughter's name, didn't even have time to dodge before being knocked unconscious by a coconut that fell from the sky.
Having learned from the lesson of Romagreni, Lin Li hurriedly hid behind a tree to prevent that dead gorilla from launching another surprise attack with a coconut
The direction from which the sound is coming is precisely near the water source mentioned by Romagreni.
Yet even Lin Li felt a sense of despair at this moment
Lin Li's reaction was also extremely swift; as he soared rapidly into the air, his mind remained exceptionally calm. There was no sign of him chanting any incantations; with merely a peculiar gesture, a blade of wind was unleashed, producing a sharp sound that pierced the air.
This chaotic destruction left Lin Li in a state of utter despair
Every coconut that strikes him feels as if he has been hit by a cannonball
After the jungle, there is a gently flowing stream, which is probably what Romagreni referred to as the water source. Beside the stream, a water pouch is quietly resting on the fallen leaves, with its clear water not yet exhausted, bubbling out steadily.
Anduin can treat them as little rascals, but Lin Li does not have that kind of attitude. An eight-level beast is no joke; even in the Sunset Mountains, it definitely ranks as a mid-tier creature in the food chain.
Leviathan Gorilla
They should not have gone far yet
"Go away! You monster... Get away from me!" Amidst the cries, Ina was desperately struggling.
This guy is truly disappointing. No wonder when Romagreny went out with him just now, his expression was somewhat unpleasant. With such a weakling, if I had a daughter, I certainly wouldn't be pleased with her associating with you
Hearing Ina's cries, the two hurriedly ran forward
Monster ... ... Monster ... ... The monster has taken ... ... Ina away!'' Cromwell looked exceptionally disheveled, his luxurious mage robe covered in mud and leaves, and he spoke as if he was out of breath.
Dozens of wind blades, dozens of ice spikes; if it were any other magician, they would have long since exhausted all their magical power. Only someone like Lin Li, with a severely distorted mental capacity, could continue to persevere amidst the rain of coconuts
Leviathan Gorilla! Lin Li firmly believed he was not mistaken; these were undoubtedly the footprints of the level 8 magical beast, Leviathan Gorilla. Long ago, when he was on the mountain, he had seen them once or twice outside Anduin's cabin. However, during such times, the old fellow would always casually say that a few little rascals had come to cause trouble, and he had chased them away.
The Leviathan Gorilla is indeed a true Level 8 magical beast. When this coconut fell from its hand, even the warrior Romagreny was knocked unconscious on the spot, let alone Lin Li, who is not physically strong.
Damn! Lin Li suddenly felt that this Leviathan gorilla was quite perverse. As a beast, it captured humans but did not tear or bite them; instead, it chose to draw circles on their faces with a pen. What else could this be if not perverse
It is unknown where that dead gorilla obtained so many coconuts, but in a frenzied storm-like manner, it smashed down at least several hundred coconuts
In the alternative realm of the sunset mountains, there exists a type of monster that is not particularly inclined towards slaughter. If I am not mistaken, Ina may be crying right now, but she should be in no mortal danger. Lin Li gazed at the chaotic footprints on the ground and added in a low voice: "From the footprints, it appears that there is only one."
However, upon confirming that it was the Leviathan Gorilla, Lin Li also let out a slight sigh of relief
The two of them no longer paid attention to Cromwell, but instead followed the footprints along the stream and continued searching ahead
Lin Li witnessed this scene and couldn't help but shake his head in silence
It was truly overwhelming, as one coconut after another fell, pressing down so hard that Lin Li couldn't even lift his head.
Gagagaga! A coconut fell and knocked down a human on the ground, and the Leviathan gorilla was even more excited, jumping and laughing maniacally, even turning around to shake its bottom at the two people.
In the midst of this, there were also some opportunities for counterattacks, whether through two gusts of wind or several ice spikes, yet most of these spells fell upon the resilient vines.
I can't believe it! Lin Li never expected that beneath the tree where he was hiding, there was actually a vine. One end of the vine was tied in a noose, while the other end was in the hands of the Leviathan gorilla. As soon as the dead gorilla pulled the vine, Lin Li was lifted off the ground.
Just as he had just turned to hide behind the tree, he suddenly felt a lightness beneath his feet, and then his whole body fell over.
Ina! After all, a father and daughter share a deep bond. Luo Maigelini, seeing his daughter in tears, became increasingly anxious as he stood under the tree
However, in his haste, he forgot that what was in the tree was an eighth-level magical beast
Damn it! Lin Li threw down a curse, no longer caring about this coward. Once again, he cast a swift spell on himself and swiftly passed through the dense jungle like the wind
The long-legged beauty who was captured is currently trapped in that giant net
With this gust of wind blade, he severed the insidious vine, and simultaneously cast a feather fall spell on himself. Lin Li finally managed to narrowly escape the trap, but what followed was a barrage of coconuts attacking like a torrential storm
If it were any other beast, Ina would likely be in grave danger by now. Only encountering the Leviathan Gorilla has temporarily spared her from life-threatening situations. Compared to other ferocious beasts, the Leviathan Gorilla is not particularly inclined towards killing; as Anduin said, they are merely a group of mischievous rascals.
Upon examining the footprints on the ground again, they appeared exceptionally chaotic, varying in size and depth. The smaller ones were likely left by Ina and Cromwell, while the larger footprints caused Lin Li to gasp in shock
The sound of crying came from a dense forest. From a distance, the trees in that forest appeared particularly tall, and the leaves seemed especially lush. Yet, between those towering trees, resilient vines were intertwined, forming what resembled a giant web.
Upon reaching the tree, I saw that Ina was bound within a giant net, wrapped layer upon layer with vines, resembling a large zongzi. Meanwhile, the Leviathan gorilla had somehow procured a paintbrush and was drawing circles on Ina's face while emitting a strange cackling sound.
Even if there are occasionally one or two spells that manage to slip through the giant net and strike the Leviathan gorilla, it is still difficult to inflict any substantial damage
